ICES Cambodia’s First High School Exchange Program
After completing two stages of the High School Exchange Program selection process, ICES Cambodia is proud to announce the exchange student to study in the USA. Chihok Gauy (Grade 10), currently an AIS and Aii student, will study one full academic year in a public school in the USA and live with a host family to enrich the study-abroad experience. J-1 High School Exchange Program by ICES Cambodia offers a rare opportunity for students learn about another culture, experience new customs and traditions, and establish lifelong friendships.
Chihok Gauy will be the first-ever Cambodian high school exchange student to represent the country. He has distinguished himself through impeccable English proficiency, determination and enthusiasm. He is an active participant in school contests and has demonstrated great potential in becoming the next leader and inspiring many young people in Cambodia.
When asked to state the reason why he wishes to study in the USA, Chihok responded, “I would like to study in the US to seek experience as to what the other side of the world is like, immerse myself in situations full of tough responsibilities necessary for my prospective careers and studies.”
It is a truly exciting moment to have the country’s very own high school exchange student to experience America and introduce the rich Cambodian culture to the American host family and many friends he will encounter. ICES Cambodia looks forward to Chihok’s year 2020-2021 filled with new discoveries.
ICES Cambodia would also like to congratulate the top ten candidates – Tan Solip Chea, Vannary Chhun, Por Ann Heang, Sovetey Heng, Rozana Keo, Sombath Mao, Puth Veasna Phum, Pitou Panha Ping, and Somonint Seng – for their efforts and wishes everyone continued success throughout their studies.
